Billet continuous casting machines:

Our billet casters are based on the up-to-date highly-efficient technologies of casting the highquality steel products. Our own research, process and engineering designs constitute the foundation of the design and operational characteristics of those billet casters.

The key distinctive features of «NKMZ»’s billet casters are:

  • High quality of cast billets.
  • High output.
  • High reliability.

The main tasks solved due to application of such billet casters are:

  • Casting of a wide range of product sizes and grades;
  • Complete casting cycle which includes: preparing steel for casting into molds; casting steel into molds both in un-shrouded and shrouded streams; cutting ingots to lengths; billet marking; billet cooling and discharge; billet weighing; billet packing and banding.

Slab continuous casting machines: 

Having started production of this king of machines from filling orders of VOEST-ALPINE (VAI), Austria for making slab casters for the steel works in Germany, USA, Russia and Ukraine based on VAI’S engineering, we turned to designing similar machines on the base of our own engineering.

Design and operational features of a slab caster made at “NKMZ” are as follows:

  • Enhanced output.
  • Extended range of product sizes and grades.
  • Hight level of the process availability and flexibility.
  • Automatic control of casting parameters.
  • Implementation of the cassette-type mold with the remote width control and individual slot cooling of the copper walls.
  • Application of the hydraulic-operated oscillator mechanism with the highly accurate oscillation paths of the left and the right hydraulic cylinders and their oscillation matching. A possibility of setting the frequency, swing and the law of oscillations during casting may also be provided based on the process requirements.
  • Design of the strand guide roller sections ensure automatic changeover of the process channel thickness and taper thus enabling to realize the so called «soft reduction» technology as well as to perform individual and independent replacement of roller sections.

«NKMZ» is continuously improving technological level of CC machines by involving the leading scientific, research and project institutes both at home and from abroad.
